Oh, honey, you wanna talk about that book, “Think and Grow Rich”? That money script thing? Yeah, I heard about it. Sounds like a load of hooey, but I guess some folks swear by it. They say it helps you get rich. Rich like them fancy city folks.
Think and Grow Rich? Hmph.
Well, I ain’t never been rich, but I know a thing or two about money. You work hard, you save your pennies, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll have enough to get by. This book, it says you gotta “think” your way to riches. Like, just wishin’ for it will make it appear.
They say you gotta have this “burning desire“. Like a fire in your belly for money. Well, I got a fire in my belly alright, but it’s usually just from Ma’s chili.
- They say read one chapter every day.
- Read it at the same time every day.
- Don’t read more than one chapter. No matter what.
- Think about it for hours.
And you know what? They say you gotta talk about money. Write about what you want. Find other people who wanna yak about gettin’ rich too. Like it’s some kinda secret club or somethin’.
More Money, More Problems, I Reckon
This fella, Napoleon Hill, he wrote this here book. Says desire is the first step. Well, I desire a new pair of shoes that don’t pinch my toes, but that don’t mean they’re gonna magically appear on my doorstep.
They say you gotta write down what you want every day. Visualize it, they say. Like, see it in your head. I see a big pile of money in my head, but when I open my eyes, it’s still just the same old empty cookie jar. I am thinking and growing, but the money is not coming. Maybe I need to think harder.
This whole think and grow rich money script thing… it’s like they’re sayin’ your thoughts are like seeds. You plant ’em in your head, water ’em with desire, and then BAM! Money tree sprouts up. If only it were that easy.
I reckon this book ain’t about just readin’ numbers and learnin’ about the stock market and all that. It’s about your mind, your thoughts. They call it “consciousness”. Fancy word for thinkin’, I suppose.
Thinkin’ and Wishin’ Ain’t the Same as Doin’
They even got a plan, this “Think and Grow Rich” action plan. Like a recipe for money. Sounds like a lot of work to me. I’d rather be out in the garden, tendin’ to my tomatoes. At least I know if I work hard there, I’ll get somethin’ to show for it.
They tell you to “fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire”. Not just “I want to be rich”, but “I want exactly one million dollars”. Like the universe is gonna go, “Oh, okay, you said the magic number, here you go!”.
I do not know why I need to think and grow rich. All of my friends who are thinking to grow rich are still not rich. All of my friends who have a lot of money did not think to be rich. I think money is important, yes. If you have money, you can buy medicine. If you have money, you can buy food. But if you think you can be rich, you may not be rich. If you work hard, you may be rich. It is not just thinking.
I suppose there’s no harm in thinkin’ positive thoughts. But if you really want to be successful, you gotta do more than just think. You gotta hustle. You gotta work hard. You need to work hard, not think hard. But some people say think hard is important.
If you want to think and grow rich, you need to find out how to think and grow rich. Maybe it is different for everyone. Maybe you just need to be lucky. I am not lucky. I will work hard and maybe I will be rich. Or maybe I will be poor. It is okay.
Maybe this think and grow rich money script works for some folks. Maybe it helps them focus, gives them a plan. But me? I’ll stick to what I know. Hard work, a little bit of luck, and a whole lot of prayer. That’s my money script.
