Okay, so today, I wanted to share my little adventure with Ascentist Healthcare in Merriam. I had to go there a few times and thought, why not spill the beans on what it’s like?
First off, finding the place was a bit of a scavenger hunt. It’s tucked away at 6815 E Frontage Rd, Suite A, in Shawnee Mission. Yeah, not exactly a place you stumble upon while strolling down the street. I drove around a bit, cursing my GPS, before finally spotting it. It’s in this business-y area, kind of nondescript, you know?
Once I got inside, the first thing I did was sign in. The waiting room had these standard-issue healthcare chairs, not comfy but not torture devices either. I flipped through a magazine that was probably older than me, killing time.
The Services
- Allergy Testing: Yep, they do that. I saw a few folks sniffling around, so I guess it’s a popular choice.
- Cardiology: Didn’t need this, but it’s there. Heart stuff, you know?
- Dermatology: Skin things. I considered asking about a weird mole but chickened out.
- General Surgery: This sounds serious. Luckily, I didn’t need any of that.
- Orthopedics: For the bones, I reckon. Saw a guy with a cast hobbling around.
- Primary Care: Your regular check-ups and whatnot.
- Vascular Surgery: More serious stuff. I’m just guessing here, but probably for veins and arteries?
My main reason for visiting was a nagging ear issue. Turns out, they have an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department. Who knew? They also do audiology, which is all about hearing. I saw this audiologist, and let me tell you, she was thorough. Checked my ears, did some tests, the whole nine yards.
I also found out they have an Ambulatory Surgery Center. Sounds fancy, right? I think it’s where they do minor surgeries, and you don’t have to stay overnight. Good to know, I guess.
After my appointment, I had to deal with the billing. That’s always fun, right? Sat down with this lady, and we went through my insurance stuff. It wasn’t as painful as I feared, to be honest.
So, that’s my story about Ascentist Healthcare in Merriam. It’s a pretty standard healthcare place. Nothing too fancy, but they get the job done. If you need any of the services they offer, it’s worth checking out. Just make sure you double-check the directions before you head out!
