Okay, so let me tell you about this little adventure I had the other day. I’ve been itching to get back on the tennis court, but the weather has been all over the place. One day it’s sunny and warm, the next it’s pouring rain. So, I thought, why not try an indoor court? I live in Atlanta and I heard that there’s a pretty big tennis scene here. I remember reading somewhere that the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA) has over 250,000 members, which is just wild, the largest tennis-based community organization in the WORLD. Plus, I know there are other leagues like T2 and Ultimate Tennis.
First things first, I started by hitting up the internet to find some indoor tennis courts near me. There were a few options, but one place, in particular, caught my eye. It had great reviews, and the pictures looked promising. I’m not going to mention names because that’s not important to this story, but they’re supposed to be one of the best in the world.
Next, I gave them a call to book a court. The person on the phone was super friendly and helped me find a time that worked for my schedule. They explained that the courts are climate-controlled, which sounded perfect, especially since it’s been so hot and humid lately, which is a big plus. I also found out that the surface they use for indoor courts is some kind of synthetic material. I’m not exactly sure what it is, but it’s supposed to be great for shock absorption and grip.

- Called the tennis facility
- Booked a court for Saturday afternoon
- Confirmed the price and what to bring
Saturday afternoon rolled around, and I headed over to the facility. When I walked in, I was pretty impressed. The place was huge, with multiple courts, all under one roof. I saw people of all ages playing, from young kids just starting out to older folks who clearly knew their way around a racket.
I checked in at the front desk and got my court assignment. I made my way to the court and started warming up. The surface felt great under my feet—just the right amount of give. I noticed that the lighting was perfect, not too bright or too dim. I brought a friend. And we started to play and we had a blast. The climate control was definitely a game-changer. No sweating buckets or feeling like I was playing in a sauna. We played for a solid hour, and I have to say, it was one of the best tennis experiences I’ve had in a while.
The Outcome
All in all, my first indoor tennis experience was a total win. I realized that indoor tennis is a great way to play year-round, no matter what the weather is doing outside. If you’re a tennis fanatic like me, I highly recommend giving it a shot. You might just discover a whole new love for the game!
