Okay, guys, so I’ve been wanting to get back into tennis lately. It’s been a while, and with the weather getting colder, I was looking for a good indoor court nearby. I started, of course, by googling “tennis court indoor near me.” You know, the usual.
The search results were a mixed bag. I saw some fancy clubs mentioned, like the “Los Angeles Tennis Club” which sounds super exclusive, with a membership fee of $25,000 and $160 a month thereafter. It is too expensive, I thought. Then I came across some places in Chicago, like “East Bank Club” and “McFetridge Sports Center.” They looked decent, but Chicago is way too far from where I am. There was also something called “River Trails Tennis Center” and “ChiTownTennis,” which seemed promising, but again, not near me.
I kept digging, and found a website called “Court Around” that seemed to help find open courts and schedule matches. Sounded pretty cool, but I wanted to check out the places first before committing.
Then, there were some public courts mentioned, like “Wicker Park – Chicago Park District.” Public courts are great, but I really needed an indoor option this time of year.
So, I decided to ask around. I hit up some friends who play tennis, and one of them mentioned a local community center that has indoor courts. It wasn’t listed in the top search results, which is a bummer, but it sounded perfect.
I called them up and talked to a real person, which was nice. It turned out they do have indoor courts, and the rates were pretty reasonable. No crazy membership fees or anything. They even had open court times this weekend.
My visit
I decided to go check it out in person. When I got there, I realized it was not so fancy, but the courts were in good shape, well-lit, and not too crowded. The staff was friendly, and they gave me a quick tour. It is not bad!
I ended up booking a court for Saturday morning. I’m pretty excited to get back on the court. It’s not Wimbledon’s Centre Court, but hey, it’s a start!
Here’s what I learned from this little adventure:
- Searching online is a good start, but don’t rely solely on it. Sometimes the best options aren’t the most obvious ones.
- Ask around. Your friends or local community might know about hidden gems.
- Check out places in person if you can. It gives you a better feel for the place.
So, yeah, that’s my story about finding an indoor tennis court. It wasn’t too complicated, but it did take a bit of effort. I’m just glad I found a place to play. I will try to find more places next time.
