Okay, so I’ve always had a heck of a time trying to find a decent tanning lotion that works for my pale skin. You know how it is, you wanna get that sun-kissed glow without looking like a carrot, right? Well, I finally went on a little mission to find the best stuff out there, and I think I hit the jackpot. I’m gonna share my journey and what I found, ’cause why not, maybe it’ll help someone else out.
First off, I started just browsing around, seeing what other people with fair skin were using. I went through a few different shops, and nothing was really jumping out at me. I wanted something that was made for indoor tanning, ’cause I’m not a fan of baking in the sun for hours.
So, I went on a deep dive online, and ended up looking at a ton of different products on a bunch of different websites. I was reading reviews, checking out ingredients, the whole nine yards. I saw a lot of people talking about this Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses Golden Tanning Lotion, saying it was the best thing ever for fair skin. It’s supposed to give you a nice, golden tan without any of that orangey nonsense. Sounded promising, but I was still a little skeptical, you know?

Then I stumbled upon another product called St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing. Now, this one’s a self-tanner, not a tanning lotion, but a lot of folks were raving about it for fair skin. Apparently, it gives you a natural-looking tan in just a few hours, and you can control how dark you want to go. I figured, what the heck, might as well try it out too.
- Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses Golden Tanning Lotion
- St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse
- Tan-Luxe The Gradual Illuminating Gradual Tan Lotion
- COOLA Sunless Tan Firming Lotion
- Sol De Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil
I ended up buying both of them, along with a few other random things I found like, Tan-Luxe The Gradual Illuminating Gradual Tan Lotion, COOLA Sunless Tan Firming Lotion, and Sol De Janeiro Glowmotions Glow Body Oil. I figured I’d test them all out and see which one worked best for me. Over the next few weeks, I tried each one, making sure to follow the instructions to a T. I even kept a little journal to track my progress. Yeah, I went full-on nerd mode with it.
My Findings
Honestly, both the Ed Hardy and St. Tropez were pretty awesome. The Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses gave me a really nice, subtle tan that looked super natural. It didn’t make me look orange at all, which was a huge relief. And it smelled like coconuts, which was a nice bonus.
The St. Tropez Self Tan Express was also great. It was easy to apply, and I loved that I could control the depth of the tan. I went for a lighter tan, and it turned out really well. It looked like I had just spent a few days at the beach, not like I had slathered myself in fake tanner. The other products I tried were okay, but these two were definitely the standouts.
So, if you’re like me and you’ve been on the hunt for a good tanning lotion or self-tanner for fair skin, I’d say give Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses or St. Tropez Self Tan Express a shot. They worked wonders for me, and I think they’ll work for you too. Just remember to do a patch test first, ’cause you never know how your skin will react. Happy tanning!
