I’ve been thinking a lot lately about getting into healthcare, it seems like a solid field, you know? But I didn’t want to spend years in school. So, I started looking into quick healthcare certifications, ways to get my foot in the door without a huge time commitment. Let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey!
First, I spent time researching what certifications were even out there. I googled around, trying to figure out which ones were legit and which ones wouldn’t take forever to get. Turns out, there are a bunch of options! I stumbled upon a place called “Quick Health Certified,” and they listed a few popular ones: medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and phlebotomist. Those sounded promising, so I decided to explore them a bit more.
I chose to focus on phlebotomy first, because the idea of drawing blood seemed kind of interesting, and a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification was one I saw mentioned a few times. I dug into how to prep for the NHA CPT exam, figuring that’s the test I’d need to pass. It was a lot of information to take in, all about blood and veins and stuff, but I kept at it.

Also, I found out about something called a Professional Coder (CPC) certification. Apparently, it takes about 20 weeks to train for, and the pay isn’t too shabby. I haven’t gotten there yet, but it’s on my radar now.
I wanted to see what else was out there, so I kept searching. I found a list of 10 medical certifications that could get me a job in healthcare. I realized that these certifications could open doors to all sorts of roles, not just phlebotomy. I saw things like dental assistants and medical coders on the list, too.
Then I came across this article talking about seven top certifications that could really boost a healthcare career. It was a good read, and it covered different parts of healthcare, which got me thinking about specializing later on. You know, once I got the basics down.
I also checked out a place called Stepful. They offer online programs for healthcare certifications, which is cool because I’m not really into sitting in a classroom right now. All their stuff can be done from home, which is super convenient.
My Next Steps
- Study: I need to hit the books and really study for the NHA CPT exam.
- Practice: I’m planning to find some practice tests and maybe even volunteer somewhere to get some hands-on experience.
- Enroll: I’m seriously considering enrolling in one of those online programs to get certified.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole quick healthcare certification thing. It’s been a lot of work, but I’m excited about the possibilities. I’ll keep you all updated on how it goes!
