Okay, so, I got really into this whole coin-collecting thing recently, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started looking for dimes that are worth money, you know, those rare ones that can fetch a pretty penny. I went straight to sorting through all of my pocket changes. It’s pretty crazy what you can find just lying around in your couch cushions or old piggy banks.
I started by grabbing every dime I could find at home. I cleared off the kitchen table and just dumped all my change jars out. It was a mess, I’m not gonna lie, coins everywhere. But I was on a mission, so I started looking at each one. I used this magnifying glass I found in my junk drawer to try and see the dates and the little mint marks. My eyes started to hurt after a while, but it was exciting. I was feeling like a real treasure hunter.
Digging Deep for Valuable Dimes
I looked up which ones were the most valuable and focused on those. Like this 1873-CC Seated Liberty Dime – apparently, the ones without arrows are worth thousands! Also, there’s something called a 1796 MS 67 Type 1 Small Eagle dime that’s super rare. No luck on that one, sadly.

- Spent hours checking dates and mint marks.
- Learned about the different series of dimes – Seated Liberty, Barber, Mercury – each has its own special years and variations.
- Found a bunch of older dimes, but nothing super valuable, yet.
It’s a lot harder than I thought to find something really special, but it’s still super fun. My friends think I’m a bit nuts, but I think I might be onto something. I’ve found a few older ones, like from the 1940s and 50s, but nothing that’s gonna make me rich. Still, it’s pretty cool to hold a coin that’s been around for that long and think about all the places it might have been. I mean, those are the dimes that are worth money in the sense of history and stories, not just dollars.
I haven’t given up yet, though. I’m still checking my change every day and hitting up the bank for rolls of dimes sometimes, although the tellers always look at me weird when I ask for them. It’s like a little treasure hunt in my everyday life, and you never know when you might strike gold, or at least silver! I haven’t found any of those super valuable dimes that are worth money yet, but I’m still holding out hope. Maybe one day I’ll find that 1873-CC Seated Liberty Dime without arrows, who knows! If I do, I’ll be sure to share it with you all!
