So, I was planning a trip to Washington, D.C., and you know, a good hotel is super important. This time, I really wanted one with an indoor pool. Figured it’d be great to relax after a long day of sightseeing, no matter the weather.
I started my search just like anyone would – hit up Google, typed in “Washington DC hotels with indoor pools”. Got a bunch of results, like usual. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first.
I started clicking through the results, checking out the pictures and reading the descriptions. Some looked really fancy, others more budget-friendly. I made a list of the ones that caught my eye, noting down their names and some key details. I’ve learned my lesson from past trips, you gotta keep track of these things!

Narrowing It Down
Next, I started to look at the locations. I wanted to be relatively close to the National Mall, since that’s where most of the museums and monuments are. Used Google Maps to get a feel for the distances. Some hotels were just too far out for what I had in mind.
- Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington D.C. Convention Center – Looked nice, close to the Convention Center, good reviews about the pool.
- Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf – This one was a bit further south, but still seemed doable. The pool area looked really modern and inviting.
- Holiday Inn Washington Capitol-National Mall – Right near the National Air and Space Museum! Pool looked a bit basic, but the location was a huge plus.
Then came the price check. Let’s be real, this can make or break a decision. I compared prices on a couple of different booking sites, just to make sure I was getting the best deal. Some hotels had special offers, like free breakfast or parking, which was cool. Also had to check their websites by myself to see if there are any differences in price.
Reviews, reviews, reviews! I spent a good chunk of time reading what other people had to say about these hotels. Focused on comments about the pool, of course, but also looked at things like cleanliness, staff friendliness, and overall experience. You can learn a lot from other travelers’ experiences.
The Final Choice
After all that digging, I finally settled on the Holiday Inn Washington Capitol-National Mall. The location was just unbeatable, and while the pool wasn’t the fanciest, the reviews were solid. Plus, the price was right within my budget.
Booked it directly through their website, got a confirmation email, and boom, done! Felt pretty good to have that sorted out. Now I can focus on planning the rest of my D.C. adventure. Can’t wait to explore all the historical sites and then take a dip in that pool!
