Okay, so today I wanted to check out the food scene in East Peoria. I’ve heard some mixed reviews, so I figured, why not go explore and see for myself? I was mostly curious about what kind of quick, casual options they have there.
First, I looked up “East Peoria Food Court” online. Honestly, the results were a bit all over the place. It wasn’t super clear if there was one central “food court” like you’d find in a mall. So, I decided to just head over to the main shopping area and start from there.
Exploring the Options
I drove over to the Levee District, which seemed like the most likely place to find a bunch of restaurants clustered together. I parked the car and just started walking around.

- First, I noticed a few chain restaurants. Nothing too exciting there, the usual suspects.
- Then, I spotted some local-looking places mixed in. A couple of pizza joints, a burger place that looked pretty busy, and a place that had “gyro” in its name. That sounded promising!
I decided to go for the gyro place. It was called “Yummy Gyros.” Sounded good to me. I walked in and it was pretty small, but the smell was amazing. They had a simple menu on the wall – gyros, salads, fries, the usual stuff.
I ordered a classic gyro with everything on it, plus some fries. The guy behind the counter was super friendly, and he whipped it up pretty quickly. I grabbed a seat at one of the few tables they had.
The Verdict
Okay, so the gyro? It was delicious. The meat was seasoned perfectly, the veggies were fresh, and the tzatziki sauce was on point. The fries were crispy and hot, too. Seriously, no complaints there.
So, while East Peoria might not have a traditional “food court” in the mall sense, it definitely has some great casual food options. You just have to walk around a bit and explore. Don’t be afraid to try the local places! I’m glad I ventured out and gave Yummy Gyros a shot. I’ll definitely be back!
Next time, I think I’ll check out that burger place. It looked pretty packed, so it must be good. And I might even try one of those pizza places, just to compare. I always want to try new things!
