Alright, let’s talk about this whole “artisan food truck food court” idea I’ve been messing around with. It all started when I got really into these gourmet food trucks popping up everywhere. You know, the ones with the fancy grilled cheese or the Korean tacos, not just your regular hot dog stand.
So, I thought, “Why not bring a bunch of these awesome trucks together in one spot?” Like a food court, but way cooler and with wheels. I started by hitting up some local food truck events, just hanging out, eating, and chatting with the owners.
I realized pretty quick that these folks are passionate about their food, but they’re also running a business, and a tough one at that. They gotta find good spots to park, deal with permits, and sometimes they’re just sitting there with no customers.

My next move was finding a location. I drove around for weeks, looking for empty lots or big parking spaces that weren’t being used much. I even talked to some property owners, which was a whole other adventure. Some were into the idea, others, not so much. Finally, I found this spot near the old factory, kind of run-down but with a cool vibe, and the owner was game.
Getting the Trucks On Board
Then came the fun part – getting the trucks to join in. I already knew some of the owners, so that was a start. I pitched them my idea, how it would be a regular thing, a set schedule, shared marketing, the whole nine yards. I even drew up a rough plan of how it would all be laid out, with picnic tables and some string lights for that evening atmosphere.
- Talked to about 15 different food truck owners.
- Got 5 solid “yes” responses, which was enough to start.
- Worked out a rotating schedule, so there’s always something new.
We decided to give it a trial run for a month. I helped them sort out the permits and all that boring stuff. I even got a local artist buddy to paint a cool mural on the factory wall to make the place look inviting. We threw together a simple website and started posting on social media, just to get the word out.
The first weekend was a blast. We had a decent crowd, good music playing, and people seemed to really dig the whole setup. The food truck owners were stoked because they had a steady stream of customers, and I was just happy to see my crazy idea actually working.
We’re still in the early stages, but it’s been a cool experience so far. I’m learning a ton about the food truck business, and I’m meeting some really awesome people along the way. Who knows where this will go, but for now, I’m just enjoying the ride, and of course, the delicious food!
