Today, I went to check out the Fort Stewart food court. I’d heard some good things, so I figured, why not? It’s always a bit of a gamble with these places, you never really know what you’re gonna get.
First off, I had to find the darn place. It’s tucked away on base, which makes sense, but if you don’t know where you’re going, it’s a bit of a maze. Anyway, I finally found it, and let me tell you, parking was an absolute nightmare. Cars everywhere, circling like vultures. After about 15 minutes of that mess, I snagged a spot and headed inside.
Once I got in, it was pretty much what you’d expect from a food court. A bunch of different fast-food joints all crammed together. You’ve got your usual suspects – burgers, pizza, some vaguely Asian stuff. Nothing fancy, but a decent variety, I guess.

The Food Options
- Burger King: Decided to grab a Whopper. It was… well, it was a Whopper. Nothing to write home about, but it filled the hole.
- Charleys Philly Steaks: My buddy got a cheesesteak from here. He said it was okay, nothing special. Looked a little greasy to me, but he seemed to enjoy it.
- Subway: There’s always a Subway, isn’t there? Didn’t go for it this time, but it’s a safe bet if you’re not feeling adventurous.
- Manchu Wok: They had some Chinese food that looked alright. Didn’t try it myself, but I saw a few people chowing down on some orange chicken.
- Popeyes: I love fried chicken, so I had to try it. It was good as usual.
The place was packed, mostly with soldiers grabbing a quick bite, I assume. Finding a table was another challenge. It was like a game of musical chairs, except everyone was hungry and slightly annoyed. Eventually, I managed to snag a spot that someone was about to leave.
After I finally got my food and sat down, I just kind of people-watched for a bit. It’s a whole different world on a military base. Lots of uniforms, lots of buzz cuts. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry, grabbing their food and heading out. It wasn’t exactly a relaxing lunch, to be honest.
All in all, the Fort Stewart food court is… well, it’s a food court. It’s not going to win any culinary awards, but if you’re on base and you’re hungry, it does the job. Would I go out of my way to eat there again? Probably not. But it wasn’t a terrible experience, just a very average one.
But hey, it’s all about the experience, right? That was my adventure to the food court. What about you? Have you eaten at any food courts on military bases? What did you think?
