Okay, so I’ve always been that person with super fair skin that burns if you just look at it too long. I’ve tried for years to get that sun-kissed glow, but it always ended in me looking like a lobster. Not a good look. I figured indoor tanning might be the way to go, at least it would be more controlled, right? But even then, the idea of turning orange or damaging my skin scared me.
I started doing some digging online to find the best indoor tanning lotion for fair skin. I mean, there are a million options out there, it’s overwhelming! I read through tons of reviews and finally narrowed it down to a few that seemed promising. It felt like online dating for tanning lotion, seriously.
First, I went to a local tanning salon to feel the vibe. They recommended a couple of lotions, but they were all so expensive! I decided to buy them online to save some money. After all this work I had better get a tan this time!

Then the fun part – testing them out! I felt like a mad scientist, but instead of mixing chemicals, I was slathering myself in different lotions.
- First, I tried this one called “Hemp Nation.” It smelled amazing, like a tropical vacation, and was super moisturizing. I used it for a few sessions, and I did get a little color, but it was very subtle. Plus, it was kind of pricey.
- Next up was “Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses.” The name alone made me giggle. This one had a bronzer in it, which I was a bit nervous about, but it actually gave me a nice, natural-looking tan. No Oompa Loompa vibes here, thank goodness! It also didn’t break the bank.
- Lastly, I gave “Australian Gold Cheeky Brown” a shot. This one was a bit thicker and had a slight tingle to it, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. It did give me some color, but I felt like it was a bit too intense for my liking.
After all that experimenting, I’d say the Ed Hardy Coconut Kisses was my favorite. It gave me the best color without looking fake, and it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin. Plus, it smelled pretty darn good.
Finding the right tanning lotion is a journey, especially when you’re pale like me. But hey, it’s worth it to finally achieve that golden goddess status without frying your skin in the process. Just remember to start slow, listen to your skin, and don’t be afraid to try a few different lotions until you find your perfect match!
