Well now, listen up, y’all! I’m gonna tell ya how to make a little somethin’-somethin’ with them fluffy white things floatin’ up in the sky – yeah, clouds. Who knew you could get paid for lookin’ up? But it’s true, I tell ya, it’s true.
First off, you gotta get yourself a picture-takin’ machine. Don’t need nothin’ fancy, just somethin’ that can snap a good, clear photo. My grandson, he’s got one of them newfangled phones, and it takes pictures good enough to eat. So, that’ll do just fine, I reckon.
Now, the real trick is findin’ them pretty clouds. You know, the ones that look like cotton candy, or maybe a big ol’ sheep dog lyin’ in the sky. Them plain ol’ gray ones ain’t gonna cut it, no sirree. You gotta look for the amazing clouds, the ones that make you wanna just stare and stare. Them orange and pink ones when the sun’s going down? Oh honey, them’s the money makers!

- Get up early, ‘fore the sun’s too high. That’s when the light is real pretty.
- Or wait till evenin’, when the sun’s settin’ and the sky turns all sorts of colors.
- And keep an eye out after a rainstorm. That’s when you get them big, puffy clouds that look like they’re gonna burst any minute.
Alright, so you got your pictures. Now what? Well, you gotta find some folks who wanna buy ’em. There’s these things called “stock photo websites”. Sounds fancy, I know, but it ain’t so bad. It’s just a place where people go to buy pictures for their websites or their magazines or whatever. And let me tell you, they need all kinds of pictures. Even pictures of clouds!
My grandson, he helped me put some of my pictures up on one of them websites. And wouldn’t you know it, people started buyin’ ’em! Not for a whole lot, mind you, but a little bit here and there adds up. It’s like findin’ money on the sidewalk, only you gotta work a little bit for it. You need to make sure your cloud photography is the best it can be you know. Sharp and clear, not all blurry and whatnot.
Now, they tell me there’s other ways to make money with these cloud pictures too. Like, you can sell ’em to folks who make calendars or postcards. Or you can even print ’em out and sell ’em at the flea market. My niece, she does that with her flower pictures, and she makes a pretty penny, I tell ya.
So, there you have it. A simple way to make a little extra cash just by lookin’ up at the sky. Ain’t that somethin’? And the best part is, it don’t take no special skills or nothin’. Just a good eye and a little bit of patience. You just need to learn how to get amazing photograph of clouds and the rest is easy peasy lemon squeezy.
And let me tell you a secret, the most consistently lucrative photography market is that fancy stuff for them ads on TV and in magazines. But that’s for the city folk with their fancy cameras and big city know-how. We just stick to what we know, right? Take pictures of pretty clouds, and sell ‘em for a bit of pocket change.
One more thing. You wanna make sure you get them clouds up close, you know? So you might need a good lens for your picture-takin’ machine. My grandson was tellin’ me about somethin’ called a “zoom lens” and some numbers and letters that go with it. Said somethin’ about 15-30mm or 14-24mm and f/2.8. Sounded like gibberish to me, but he says it helps you get them close-up shots. And somethin’ about keepin’ the frost off. Lord knows we don’t need no frosty clouds round here. And he said somethin’ about f/8 or f/11 and keeping that ISO thing low. Honestly, I don’t know what half of it means, but he sets my camera for me and the pictures turn out real nice.
So go on, get out there and start snappin’ them cloud pictures. You might just surprise yourself with how much money you can make. And even if you don’t make a fortune, well, at least you got some pretty pictures to look at. And that ain’t so bad, now is it?
