Okay, so, I went to Costco the other day, and you know how it is – you go in for, like, five things and come out with fifty. But hey, no judgment here. Anyway, I was starving by the time I got to the checkout, so I decided to hit up the food court. I mean, who can resist that ice cream, right?
But then I got to thinking, “How bad is this for me, really?” I’m trying to watch what I eat, you know, the whole healthy lifestyle thing. So, I whipped out my phone and started digging around for some nutrition facts. And let me tell you, it was a bit of a wild goose chase.
First, I tried just a general search, like “Costco food court ice cream nutrition.” The results were all over the place. Some sites had information, some didn’t. And the ones that did have info, it wasn’t always clear how up-to-date or accurate it was. Some even had these tools to sort of make a detailed report of what nutrition a food may have.

I did find this one site that seemed to have a pretty comprehensive list of Costco food court items, including the ice cream. It had all the basics like calories, fat, sugar, protein, all that jazz. So that was something, at least. Also, I found a website that seems to have the most updated and accurate information, but not much information though. I found this website has a table with some food names and calories, such as “BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich 9.6 oz 610” and “Berry Sundae 13 oz 480”.
- Calories: This is the big one, right? It tells you how much energy you’re getting from the food.
- Fat: This is broken down into different types, like saturated and trans fats.
- Sugar: This one is pretty self-explanatory. It tells you how much sugar is in the food.
- Protein: This is important for building and repairing tissues in your body.
- Carbs: There are total carbs and net carbs. Net carbs are the ones that affect your blood sugar levels.
So, armed with this information, I made my decision. I went for the ice cream, of course! But I did opt for a smaller size, just to keep things in check.
The Breakdown
I found that a serving of their vanilla soft serve has about 521 calories. That’s not too shabby, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re watching your calorie intake. And apparently, the vanilla ice cream is basically just dairy and sugar, so, yeah, there’s gonna be some fat and a good amount of sugar in there. No surprises, I guess.
There is also another ice cream bar, and a website says it has about 869 calories in one bar(8 oz). That’s a lot, but I didn’t choose this one.
Anyway, it was a fun little experiment. It’s always good to be informed about what you’re eating, even if it’s just a treat from the Costco food court. I mean, knowledge is power, right? So, next time you’re at Costco, maybe take a peek at the nutrition facts before you indulge. You might be surprised at what you find!
All in all, it was a good day. Got my shopping done, enjoyed a tasty treat, and learned a little something about nutrition. Can’t beat that!
