Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Eastbrook Healthcare Center place, down in Cleveland, Ohio. It’s a, you know, a nursin’ home. A nursin’ home for folks who need a bit of help, ya know? Like, old folks mostly, or people who ain’t feelin’ too good.
They got this place over on Euclid Avenue, number 17322, that’s what they tell me. Can’t miss it, they say. Big place, I reckon. Heard it’s got, what, a hundred and nine beds? That’s a lot of beds, ain’t it? Plenty of room for folks, I guess.
Now, what do they do there? Well, they look after ya. That’s the main thing. If you’re old and can’t do much for yourself no more, they help ya wash, they help ya eat. They give ya your medicine, all that stuff. They even got folks who help ya get better if you’ve been sick or had an operation. Ree-habil-lay-shun, they call it. Fancy word, huh?

- And they got folks who help with pain. If you’re hurtin’, they try to make it better.
- And if you got a wound, a cut or somethin’, they take care of that too. They call it “wound care”. Sounds kinda scary, but it just means they fix ya up.
Heard they even got somethin’ for folks who forget things. You know, old timers who can’t remember where they put their teeth, or even who they are sometimes. Dementia care, they call it. Sounds sad, but at least them folks got someone lookin’ after ‘em. And they got somethin’ for people who just need a little break, a little rest. Respite care. Like a vacation, I guess.
They got all sorts of things there, it seems. They even got this thing for folks who need their blood cleaned, dia-ly-sis, somethin’ like that. And some folks need help breathin’ with a machine, a ven-ti-lay-tor. Sounds complicated, but they got people who know how to do it all. They say it’s a good place, a clean place. They check it all the time, make sure everything’s up to snuff. Government people, Medicare and Medicaid, they make sure it’s all on the up and up.
I heard you can go there for a long time, or just for a little while. If you need help after a hospital stay, you can go there to get strong again. And if you just need someone to keep an eye on ya, they can do that too. They got all sorts of things to keep folks busy, too. They call it “activities” or somethin’. Keepin’ folks from gettin’ too bored, I suppose. They got individual therapy too, if you need someone to talk to. Lord knows, some folks just need a good listenin’ to.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place for your mama, or your papa, or even yourself, down the road, this Eastbrook place might be worth a look-see. It’s in Cleveland, Ohio, over on Euclid Avenue. They got nurses, doctors, all sorts of people to help ya. And they take Medicare and Medicaid, so that helps, don’t it? Money’s always tight, especially for us old folks.
