So, there I was, on a road trip and passing through Santa Ynez, and I decided to swing by the Chumash Casino Resort. I wasn’t there to gamble, though. Nope, I was on a mission to check out their food court. I’d heard some mixed things, so I figured, why not see for myself?
First off, parking was a breeze. They’ve got a huge lot, so no circling around for a spot. I walked into the casino, and let me tell you, it’s massive! I mean, 115,000 square feet of flashing lights and the constant dinging of slot machines. It was a little overwhelming, but I followed the signs towards the food court area.
I found that The food court itself was like a little oasis amidst all the casino chaos. I saw a sit-down restaurant named Eggington’s, which looked kinda new and bright, all airy and sunny. They serve breakfast and lunch all week, but I was looking for something quick. Then I noticed that there was another place called The Caf.

I wandered around and looked at the menus. I noticed there was some Vietnamese Pho soup, which is kind of surprising for a casino food court. The price for Mochi was 6 dollars which I considered was kind of high. They had Smash Grill Burger, Smoke N Tacos, and On The Go. And there was even a sports bar. Lots of choices. But honestly, nothing really jumped out at me. I ended up grabbing a quick taco from Smoke N Tacos, which was okay. Nothing to write home about, but it filled me up.
While I was eating, I did some people-watching. It was a mixed crowd, some folks who looked like they were taking a break from the slots, and others, like me, who were just passing through. I also noticed a lot of families, which was kind of surprising for a casino.
After I finished, I decided to wander around the casino floor for a bit. I’m not much of a gambler, but it was fun to watch people play. There were people having a great time with 2300 slot machines. I even saw a couple of folks win big, which was exciting. They had a fitness center and a pool in there, according to the instruction. Also, I noticed the check-out time at Chumash Hotel was 11:00 am.
Overall, my experience at the Chumash Casino food court was…meh. The food was average, the prices were a bit high, but the variety was decent. If you’re in the casino and need a quick bite, it’ll do. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there. There are probably better options nearby, like The Victor Restaurant and Bar, or S Y Kitchen which I didn’t go to. But hey, at least I can say I’ve been there, done that, and got the t-shirt…or in this case, the taco.
Anyway, that’s my little food adventure at the Chumash Casino. Not exactly a culinary jackpot, but hey, it was an experience!
