Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Clear Creek Food Court place. It’s over there on Clear Creek Road, building 4250, in Fort Cavazos. Don’t rightly know what kinda fancy buildin’ that is, but they got food, and that’s all that matters to this old woman.
What’s on the Menu?
Now, I ain’t one for fancy eatin’. Give me good, plain food, and I’m happy. They say this place got all sorts of stuff, like them “wraps” – sounds like somethin’ you wrap a baby in, but I hear it’s food. They also got “comfort food,” which sounds more like it. Mashed potatoes, maybe? Some good ol’ gravy? I hope so. And they got “quick bites” too, for when you’re in a hurry. Like me, always chasin’ after them chickens, I ain’t got time to sit around all day.
They say it’s at 4250 Clear Creek Boulevard, that’s in Fort Cavazos, Texas. Heard tell it’s part of the Exchange, whatever that is. They got a phone number too, if you’re the fancy type that likes to call ahead. It’s (254) 532-7200. Me? I just show up and see what they got cookin’. Can’t be bothered with all that telephonin’ nonsense.
- Wraps: Never had one, but folks seem to like ’em.
- Comfort Food: Now you’re talkin’! This is what I like to eat.
- Quick Bites: Good for when you’re on the go.
When are they open?
Seems like they’re open pretty much all day, from 9 in the mornin’ till 9 at night. Every day, too, Monday through Thursday, least that’s what I heard. Good for them folks that work all sorts of hours. Me, I’m up with the chickens and in bed when the sun goes down, but it’s nice to know they’re open if I ever need somethin’ after supper. Though honestly, after supper all I need is a good night’s sleep.
What do folks say about it?
Heard tell it’s a “major staple” in Killeen. Don’t rightly know what a staple is, but sounds important. Like, if you need somethin’, you go there. That’s what I gather. Folks are always takin’ pictures of their food there, too. Must be somethin’ worth lookin’ at, and eatin’, I reckon. And they got them “ratings” and “reviews.” Sounds like a whole lotta fuss just for food, but I guess people like to talk. They are always jabberin’ on and on, those city folks.
They also got this Clear Creek Caterin’ thing goin’ on. Saw somethin’ ‘bout them cookin’ on location this Thursday. Don’t know where or what, but sounds like they bring the food to you. Fancy that!
Is it any good?
Well, I ain’t been there myself yet, but from what I hear, it’s a good place to get a bite to eat. Plenty of choices, and the prices ain’t too bad neither. And that’s important, ’cause this old woman ain’t got money to throw around. Gotta save for them rainy days, you know. And for feedin’ them chickens. Them chickens eat more than you’d think.
Clear Creek in Maryville
Now, there’s another Clear Creek place, over in Maryville, on 130 N Depot Street. Seems like it’s a restaurant and a bar, American style. Never been there, mind you, but they got a menu, prices, and even a map so you don’t get lost. And you can call to book a table, if you’re the fancy type. Me? I just show up and find a seat, if there’s one to be had. Less fuss that way.
Final Thoughts
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to eat in Fort Cavazos, or even Maryville, sounds like Clear Creek is worth a try. Whether it’s the food court or the restaurant, they seem to have somethin’ for everyone. Me? I’m gonna head over there myself one of these days and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I’ll even try one of them “wraps.” But if they don’t have mashed potatoes and gravy, I might just stick to what I know. A good old fashioned home cooked meal is hard to beat, you know. But sometimes, even an old woman like me needs a break from the kitchen.
And remember, 4250 Clear Creek Blvd, Fort Cavazos. That’s where the eatin’ is at, or so they say. Gonna have to see for myself. Now, where did I put my shoes?
