Okay, so let’s talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – finding a good healthcare job if you’re an introvert. You know, someone who’s not super into constant chit-chat and gets drained by too much people time.
First off, I started digging around online, just Googling stuff like “healthcare jobs for introverts.” I wanted to see what’s out there, what other people were saying. Lots of articles popped up, which was cool, and I started bookmarking a bunch of them.
Then, I made a list. A big list of all the healthcare jobs that seemed like they wouldn’t require me to be a social butterfly 24/7. I was thinking, “What jobs involve more working alone, or at least with minimal interaction?” Stuff like working in a lab, or with computers, or with medical equipment, you know?

After making the list, I started looking into each job. I started reading descriptions, watching videos of what people actually do in these roles.
One job that caught my eye was a Medical Laboratory Technologist. I watched a “day in the life” video of one, and it looked pretty chill. Mostly working with samples, running tests, not a ton of interaction with people. That got me thinking that there are more options out there than people might think. I felt a little excited, to be honest.
- Medical Laboratory Technologist: This seems pretty solid. Lots of time alone with microscopes and samples.
- Radiologic Technologist: Operating X-ray machines and stuff. Seems like interaction is more with the machines than with people.
- Medical Records and Health Information Technician: Lots of computer work, organizing records. Sounds peaceful.
I even considered talking to some folks who actually work in these fields. I mean, it is always good to get a real insider’s perspective. I haven’t done that yet, but it’s on my to-do list. And I thought about how some of these jobs could be a really good fit. Like, I enjoy working with data and I’m pretty detail-oriented, so the medical records job seemed interesting.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at now. Still exploring, still learning. But it feels good to know that there are options out there. It’s not like you have to be a super extroverted person to work in healthcare.
I’ll keep you guys posted on what else I find. Maybe I’ll even try to shadow someone in one of these roles. Who knows. It’s a process, but a fun one!
