Alright, so let me tell you about my little adventure to the food court at MacDill Air Force Base. It wasn’t exactly planned, but sometimes those are the best kind of outings, right?
It all started when I had to run some errands near the base. I finished up earlier than I expected, and my stomach started to rumble. I figured, “Hey, why not check out what they’ve got at the food court?” I’d heard some good things from a buddy who used to be stationed there.
So, I drove onto the base – had to show my ID, you know the drill – and found my way to the BX. The food court is right inside there. Parking was a breeze, which is always a good start.
When I walked in, I was actually pretty surprised. It was bigger than I thought it would be, and it was clean! That’s not always the case with these kinds of places. There were a bunch of different options, the usual suspects like a burger joint, a pizza place, and one of those places that sells chicken with noodles.
- Burger Joint – Your standard burgers, fries, and the like. Nothing fancy, but sometimes that’s exactly what you’re craving.
- Pizza Place – They had pizza by the slice, whole pies, and even some calzones. It smelled pretty darn good.
- Chicken and Noodles – I’m not sure what the actual name was, it had chicken and other things that were fried.
- Other Stuff – They had a Subway, which is always a safe bet, and a few other smaller places that I didn’t really check out.
I wandered around for a bit, checking out the menus, and decided to go for the pizza. I’m a sucker for a good slice of pepperoni, and it looked pretty tempting.
I ordered my food, paid, and found a table. The place was starting to get a little busy, but it wasn’t packed. I gobbled down my pizza – it was actually pretty good! Not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely hit the spot.
Overall Impression
All in all, it was a good experience. The food was decent, the place was clean, and the prices weren’t outrageous. It’s not a place I’d go out of my way to visit, but if you’re on MacDill and you’re hungry, it’s definitely worth checking out. I’ll probably go back again sometime when I am in that area, maybe I’ll try the burger joint next time. You never know, it might be a hidden gem!
