Okay, here’s my experience making a beef sirloin tip roast in my pressure cooker.
So, I got this 3-pound sirloin tip roast, and I was like, “What am I gonna do with this?” I’ve roasted these in the oven before, but it always takes forever, and honestly, sometimes it comes out kinda dry. Then I remembered my pressure cooker! I figured it was worth a shot.
Prepping the Roast
First things first, I took the roast out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter for about 30 minutes. I heard somewhere that this helps it cook more evenly. While that was happening, I got my other stuff together. I grabbed some salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and some dried thyme and rosemary. I really like the taste that the herbs added. I mixed all those together in a little bowl.

Then, I rubbed that herb mixture all over the roast. I mean, I really got in there and massaged it into the meat. You gotta make sure every inch is covered, you know?
Into the Pressure Cooker
Next, I put a little olive oil in the bottom of my pressure cooker and turned it to the saute setting. Once it was hot, I seared the roast on all sides. I’m talking a nice, brown crust. This took maybe 5-7 minutes total.
After that, I took the roast out and set it aside for a sec. I poured a cup of beef broth into the pressure cooker and scraped up all those brown bits from the bottom. That’s where all the flavor is!
- Then I put a trivet in the cooker.
- Placed the roast on top of that.
- Sealed the lid.
- Set it to high pressure.
I cooked it for about 25 minutes. The pressure cooker was much faster than the traditional oven. After that, I let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, and then I did a quick release for the rest.
The Results
I carefully took the roast out of the cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing into it. And man, oh man, it was perfect! Super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The pressure cooker did its thing! It was way better than when I used to roast it in the oven.
I served it up with some roasted potatoes and carrots that I cooked separately. It was a total hit! I’ll definitely be making sirloin tip roast in the pressure cooker again. It’s just so much easier and faster, and the results are amazing. You should give it a try!
