Hey everyone, it’s your guy back again with another one of my little home projects. This time, I’ve been messing around with some trailing indoor plants. I saw them on someone’s page and thought it would be a great way to add some green to my living room, so I decided to give it a shot.
First things first, I had to pick out some plants. Now, I’m no green thumb, so I looked up some easy-to-care-for options online. I ended up grabbing a few different kinds, like a Devil’s Ivy, which also called Pothos, a Spider Plant, and something called a String of Dolphins – it looked cool, so why not?
When I was at the store, I tried to pick out the healthiest-looking ones. I made sure the leaves were nice and green and felt the soil to make sure it wasn’t too dry or too wet. Just poked my finger in there about an inch, you know, to get a good feel. I also saw some plants that were named Golden Pothos and Heartleaf Philodendron, which seemed like good choices for beginners.

Getting them home was the easy part. Then came the fun stuff – figuring out where to put them. I had a couple of high shelves that seemed perfect. After I placed them there, I just used some regular old pots and made sure they had enough room to grow. Nothing fancy.
- I hung up the Spider Plant in a hanging basket near the window, so it could get plenty of light.
- The Devil’s Ivy I put on a shelf where it could trail down nicely.
- The String of Dolphins, I placed it on top of my bookshelf.
Watering was the next thing. I didn’t want to overdo it, so I just gave them a good drink and made a mental note to check the soil every few days. I also read somewhere that it’s good to mist the leaves, so I did that a couple of times a week.
I also picked up a Mini Monstera and a Silver Pothos, just to see how they would do. They’re a bit different, but I figured, why not experiment a bit? I found some different spots for them around the house, places where they’d get indirect light and wouldn’t be too cramped.
Watching Them Grow
After a few weeks, I started to see some real progress. The Devil’s Ivy was trailing down just like I hoped, and the Spider Plant was sprouting little baby plants. Even the String of Dolphins was looking fuller.
It’s been a couple of months now, and I’ve got to say, it’s pretty satisfying to see these plants thriving. It’s like I’ve brought a little piece of nature indoors. Plus, it makes the place look a whole lot nicer, if I do say so myself.
So, that’s my little adventure with trailing indoor plants. Nothing too complicated, but it’s been a fun little project. If you’re thinking about adding some green to your place, I’d say go for it. Just pick some easy plants, give them a bit of love, and watch them do their thing. Trust me, it’s worth it.
