Today, I want to share my experience with St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Rehab Center. I’ve been looking into various options for my mom, who needs a bit of extra care these days, and this place popped up on my radar. It’s located over in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, which is not too far of a drive from me, thankfully.
I started my research by doing some good old-fashioned internet digging. The center is on East Lindsley Road, and it’s got a pretty good reputation from what I can tell. Apparently, it’s a non-profit, Medicare-certified place, which is always good to know. They offer a whole bunch of stuff, from nursing care to rehab and even respite care.
Making the call
So, after reading up on it, I gave them a call. I’m not going to lie, I was a bit nervous. Choosing a place for your loved one is a huge decision, right? But the person I spoke to was really nice and answered all my questions. They told me about their 151 certified beds and how they are certified for both Medicare and Medicaid.
Visiting the place
Next, I decided to go check the place out in person. I mean, you can’t really judge a book by its cover, can you? When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a well-maintained building, and the staff seemed genuinely caring. I took a tour and got to see the rooms, the common areas, and even the rehab facilities.
Talking to the staff
One of the things I wanted to do was chat with the staff and get a feel for the kind of care they provide. I talked to a few of the nurses and aides, and they all seemed pretty dedicated to their jobs. They talked about how they help residents with daily activities, administer medications, and all that good stuff.
Meeting some residents
I even got to meet a few of the residents. They were all different ages and had different needs, but they all seemed to be pretty happy there. One lady I talked to had just had hip surgery, and she was doing her rehab there. She said the therapists were great and she was making good progress.
Making the decision
After seeing everything and talking to everyone, I felt a lot better about St. Joseph’s. It’s definitely a place I’m considering for my mom. It seems like they really care about their residents and provide a good level of care.
The paper work
Now comes the not-so-fun part – the paperwork! There’s a lot to fill out, insurance stuff to sort through, and financial things to figure out. But, hey, it’s all part of the process, right?
Final thoughts
- It’s in a good location.
- The staff seems to know their stuff.
- The residents seem happy.
So, that’s my experience with St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Rehab Center so far. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I think it’s worth it to find the right place for my mom. I’ll keep you guys updated on how things progress. Wish me luck!
