Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Northgate Mall place. It’s a big ol’ shoppin’ center, they say. Folks come from all over, seems like. Easy to get to, they say, right there on Albert Street and that Ring Road.
Now, I ain’t never been to Seattle, but they got another one of these Northgate Malls there too, with a food court and all. This one here in Regina, though, that’s the one I know. They say it’s got everything under one roof, like them ninjas and karts and movie places, and even an ice rink, can you believe it?
But what I really wanna talk about is the food court. That’s where the real action is, you know? All sorts of vittles, all in one place. You get hungry walkin’ around that big mall, let me tell ya.

- First off, there’s this Mexican place. Now, I ain’t had much Mexican food in my life, but this stuff is good, real good. They got them nacho things and those chimichanga…whatchamacallits. Spicy, but tasty. And plenty of it, that’s what I like. Don’t skimp on the portions, these folks.
- Then there’s… well, a whole bunch of other places. Burgers, fries, that kinda thing. You know, the usual. They got that Chinese food too, but I ain’t so sure about that. Looks a little…foreign, if ya know what I mean. Sticks to what I know, I do.
- And let me tell you, they got places for sweets too. Ice cream, cookies, all that sugary stuff. Good for the young’uns, I reckon. Me, I prefer a good cup of coffee after my meal. But them kids, they go wild for that sugar.
This here food court, it ain’t the biggest in the world, mind you. Heard tell there’s a bigger one over in Egypt, can you imagine? Big as a whole town, probably. But this one here, it’s big enough for me. Plenty of places to sit and watch the folks go by. That’s half the fun, you know, just watchin’ people.
Now, this mall, it’s been around a while, I hear. Different folks ownin’ it over the years. They fixed it up some time back, made it all fancy lookin’. Even changed the name and the picture on the door, you know, the logo thingy. But the food court, well, that’s always been there, far as I know. Folks gotta eat, right?
They even had one of them big stores close down, Target, they called it. Shame, really. But the food court, it stayed open. See, that’s what I’m sayin’. Food is important. You can live without a new pair of shoes, but you can’t live without somethin’ in your belly.
I remember one time, I went to the mall with my grandkids. They wanted to see a movie, and then they wanted to play on them karts. By the time we were done, them kids were starvin’. So we went to the food court, and everyone got what they wanted. Happy as clams, they were. And that’s what matters, right? Seein’ them kids smile.
So, if you ever find yourself in Regina, or Seattle, I guess, and you’re hungry, head on over to the Northgate Mall. You’ll find somethin’ you like, I guarantee it. Just don’t expect nothin’ too fancy. It’s just good, plain food, the kind that fills you up and makes you feel good. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? Good food and a full belly.
This mall business, I still don’t understand why they make these things so big, seems like a lot of walkin’ just to buy some bread. But at least that food court has somethin’ for everyone. Gotta give ’em that. And it’s clean too, mostly. Can’t stand a dirty place, I tell ya.
I tell you what, if you see me at the food court, come on over and say hello. We can sit and chat, watch the folks go by. Maybe share a plate of them nachos, if you’re feelin’ adventurous. Just don’t expect me to know all them fancy names for the food, alright? I just call it like I see it.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on the Northgate Mall food court. It ain’t perfect, but it’ll do. It’ll fill your belly and give you a place to rest your feet. And sometimes, that’s all a body needs.
