Okay, so, I’ve been trying to spice things up at our youth group meetings. You know, get the kids more engaged and having fun together. We usually meet indoors, so I was specifically looking for some “youth group games indoor” ideas. I started off by doing some online searching, reading some articles and blogs about games, and watching some videos.
I decided to try out a couple of different games to see what would work best for our group. The first one I tried was a game called “Reverse Charades.” It sounded pretty simple, and I thought it would be a good way to get everyone involved. I made some notes on how to perform the game based on what I found online.
Here’s how it went down:

- I split the group into smaller teams.
- Explained the rules: Instead of one person acting out a word or phrase for their team to guess, the whole team acts it out for one person to guess. It is a little bit tricky, but they will understand.
- Each round, one person from each team would be the “guesser.”
- I had a list of famous people or characters ready to go, but you can easily change it into actions or animals.
- The teams would act out the person or character without speaking. They can use any gestures or actions as long as they don’t talk.
- The guesser had 60 seconds to figure out who their team was acting out.
It was a total blast! The kids were super into it, lots of laughter and some really creative acting. We played several rounds, and even the shyer kids started to come out of their shells. It was definitely a success, and something we’ll do again.
Another Game We Played
Another game we tried was the “The Cat Chases the Mouse” game. This one was even simpler to set up.
Here’s how it went:
- All you need is a big open space.
- Everyone stands in a circle, holding hands.
- One person is the “cat” and stands outside the circle.
- Another person is the “mouse” and stands inside the circle.
- The cat has to try and tag the mouse.
- But here’s the catch: the people in the circle try to block the cat from getting to the mouse, without letting go of each other’s hands.
This one got everyone running around and giggling. It was a great way to burn off some energy and encourage teamwork. They would definitely love this game, and I think we will have another turn next time.
Overall, I’m really happy with how these games went. It was awesome to see the kids having so much fun and interacting with each other. I’m definitely going to keep trying out new indoor games at our meetings. It makes a huge difference in the energy and engagement of the group.
