Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya ’bout this here Great Lakes food court. It’s at that big mall, you know, the one with all the stores. I went there last week with my daughter. She wanted to buy some newfangled shoes, and I was hungry, so we ended up at the food court.
Now, I ain’t no fancy food critic or nothin’, but I know what tastes good. And let me tell you, there’s a whole lotta choices at that place. First off, they got them burger places. You know, the ones with the greasy fries and big, juicy patties. My daughter got one of them, and she seemed to like it well enough. Me, I ain’t much for burgers. Too messy for my liking.
Then they had them Chinese food places. Now, I do like me some Chinese food every now and then. They had all sorts of stuff, like noodles and rice and them little fried chicken things. I got myself a plate of orange chicken and some rice. It was pretty good, not too spicy, just the way I like it. But I gotta say, it was a bit pricey. Everything’s expensive these days, ain’t it?

- They got them pizza places too. Big slices, little slices, all sorts of toppings.
- And them sandwich shops. You know, the ones where you can pick your own bread and meat and cheese.
- Oh, and don’t forget about the ice cream! They had a whole bunch of different flavors. My daughter got a big cone of strawberry, and she ate it all up before I could even get a bite.
The place was real busy, though. Lots of folks running around, kids screaming, people bumping into each other. It was kinda hard to find a place to sit. But we managed to snag a table after a bit. It wasn’t the cleanest place, I gotta say. There were crumbs on the table and some spilled soda on the floor. But I guess that’s what you expect at a busy food court.
I heard some folks talking about other restaurants near the mall. Said there was this place called Orion Grill and another one called Dogwoods Kitchen. Sounded fancy to me. They also mentioned Johnny Black’s and Old Detroit Burger Bar. My daughter said we should try one of them next time, but I don’t know. I’m kinda partial to that Chinese food. It’s good and filling, and it don’t break the bank too much.
Now, they say this food court is open pretty much all day, from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. But they also said somethin’ about last entry being an hour before closing. So, you gotta get there early if you want to eat. And I heard you can call ahead to book a table at some of them restaurants, though I don’t know why you’d need to do that at a food court. Seems like you just walk up and order your food.
So, overall, I’d say the Great Lakes food court is alright. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s got a good selection of food, and it’s convenient if you’re already at the mall. Just be prepared for the crowds and the prices. And maybe bring some wet wipes to clean your table. You know how it is, these places ain’t always the cleanest.
If you’re plannin’ on visitin’ other stores at the Great Lakes Mall, you might want to call them ahead of time too, just to make sure they are open. Things ain’t always what they seem these days, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. And if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different from the food court, there’s plenty of restaurants outside the mall. Just ask around, somebody will know.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on the Great Lakes food court. It ain’t the Ritz, but it’ll fill your belly. And sometimes, that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
