The European settlers, they kept pushin’ west, takin’ more and more land, and that left the Native Americans with less and less space to live and thrive. Even with all the hardship, the Native Americans still hold on to their heritage. They still practice their traditions, their dances, their songs. They keep their languages alive, even though some of ‘em are disappearin’. They fight for recognition and respect, and to make sure that folks don’t forget the true history of this land and the people who were here first.
Modern Day Native Americans
Today, Native Americans are spread out across the country, still fightin’ for their rights and their land. Many tribes have casinos, or they run businesses to support their communities. Some of ‘em have their own schools, their own police forces, and their own governments, too. The modern world has changed a lot for ‘em, but their roots, they still run deep in the soil of this land. And though they face challenges, they also have a rich culture and a proud history that will never be forgotten.
