Well, let me tell ya ’bout that there Great Northern Mall food court in North Olmsted. It’s got a whole bunch of places to eat, ya know? Food, food, food, that’s what it’s all about! I went there last week with my grandbaby, and let me tell ya, the choices were somethin’ else.
First off, there’s this place called Cilantro Taqueria. They got them taco things. My grandbaby, she loves them tacos. Said they were real good, but a little bit spicy for an old lady like me. They ain’t cheap though, cost a pretty penny, them tacos did. But hey, gotta spoil the grandbaby sometimes, right?
Then there’s this other place, I don’t remember the name, but they had all sorts of food. People were eatin’ all kinds of stuff, noodles and rice and things I ain’t never seen before. Smelled good though, real good. I saw folks takin’ pictures of their food, which I thought was kinda funny. I mean, it’s just food, ain’t it? But I guess that’s what young folks do these days.

We walked around a bit, and I saw a place with yogurt. Yogurt! Can you believe it? Who goes to the mall to eat yogurt? But I guess some folks like it. And then there was somethin’ called “red curry.” Sounded spicy to me. I ain’t got no time for that spicy stuff. My stomach ain’t what it used to be, ya know?
- Tacos – for the young’uns who like spicy food.
- Noodles and rice – all sorts of fancy stuff.
- Yogurt – I don’t get it, but it’s there.
- Red curry – sounds too hot for me!
Anyways, the place was real busy. Lots of people walkin’ around, lookin’ for somethin’ to eat. It was hard to find a place to sit, but we managed. The tables were clean, though, which is more than I can say for some places. And the bathrooms weren’t too far, which is good when you’re old like me. Gotta go when ya gotta go, ya know?
I heard someone say somethin’ about “Restaurantji.” I don’t know what that is, sounds like some kinda fancy word to me. Maybe it’s a way to find the good places to eat? I dunno. I just look for the place that smells the best, that’s my way of doin’ things. Simple and easy, that’s my motto. No need for all that fancy technology stuff.
Now, the mall itself, it’s big. Real big. And that food court, it’s right in the middle of it all. So you can shop ‘til ya drop and then grab a bite to eat. Or you can eat first and then shop, I guess it don’t matter much. But it’s convenient, I’ll give it that. You ain’t gotta go drivin’ all over town lookin’ for somethin’ to eat. It’s all right there, under one roof.
And the prices? Well, they ain’t cheap, I’ll tell ya that much. But I guess that’s what you expect at a mall, right? Everything’s a little bit more expensive. But you’re payin’ for the convenience, I suppose. And for the chance to sit down and rest your feet for a while. My feet were killin’ me after walkin’ around that mall all day.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to eat in North Olmsted, the Great Northern Mall food court ain’t a bad choice. They got a little bit of everything, somethin’ for everyone. Just be prepared to spend a little bit of money, and to fight the crowds. But hey, that’s part of the fun, ain’t it? People watchin’ and eatin’, that’s what I like to do. And the grandbaby, she had a good time too, so that’s all that matters.
Oh, and I almost forgot, that Cilantro Taqueria place, it’s on Lorain Road. I remember seein’ the sign. So if you ain’t at the mall, you can still get them tacos. But I think I’ll stick to my meatloaf and mashed potatoes next time. That’s real food, ya know? Not all this fancy stuff they got at the mall. But hey, to each their own, right?
